Teams Without Fear: Building Confidence with Meetings and Sharing Documents
Course description:
Teams Without Fear: Building Confidence with Meetings and Sharing Documents is a practical online session for clerks and councillors who want to feel more confident using Microsoft Teams for council work.
The session will cover the basics of attending and participating in Teams meetings, as well as how to set up meetings, manage simple meeting options, share documents safely, and use Teams areas or channels to access and edit files collaboratively. It will also introduce simple good practice around council-controlled document spaces, version control, data protection, records management and Assertion 10 readiness.
The session is suitable for those who feel nervous using Teams, as well as those who already use Teams for meetings but want to understand how it can support more effective document sharing and collaborative working.
Learning outcomes:
By the end of the session, participants will understand how to:
- join and participate in Teams meetings with more confidence;
- set up a basic Teams meeting and understand key meeting options;
- share documents during meetings safely and effectively;
- understand the difference between a Teams meeting, a Team, a channel and the files area;
- use a basic Teams channel or workspace to access, edit and collaborate on documents;
- reduce version confusion by using shared files and version history;
- apply simple good practice around permissions, confidentiality, records management and data compliance.
