Assistant to the Staple Hill and Mangotsfield Parish Clerk

If you have excellent financial, administration, committee, social media and marketing experience in a local authority or similar environment, ideally understand local government financial systems and procedures, accounts, payroll, budget setting and monitoring, risk management and controls, this post is ideal.

You will assist the Parish Clerk to the Council in the effective and proper management and control of the Council’s financial affairs by maintaining proper financial systems, records and controls, preparing and monitoring the Council’s budgets, ensuring that the Council complies with all the requirements of Internal and External Audit, managing all aspects of insurance, the asset register, supporting working groups and reporting to the Parish Clerk.

Highly motivated and a good team player as well as being able to work independently, you will bring excellent numerical, analytical, communication, IT and interpersonal skills, have a flexible approach to working.

We offer excellent nationally based terms and conditions of employment for this post which may involve occasional evening meeting attendance and weekends.

Hours: 18 hours per week – preferably Monday, Wednesday and Friday (with some flexibility, and occasional evening and weekend working if required)
Salary: Range SCP 7 – 12 - £25,584 - £27,711 (pro rata starting equivalent to £13.26 - £14.36 per hour)

Part-time Clerk & RFO to Rangeworthy Parish Council

Part-time Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer
12 hours per week.

National Scale points 18 to 24 (subject to experience).  Currently £15.84  - £17.79 per hour.

Rangeworthy is a friendly rural village on the outskirts of Yate, South Gloucestershire.  The area covered by the Parish Council includes the parish of Bagstone.  There is a population of approximately 900 residents.  The Parish Council owns various parcels of land throughout the parish including a playground, woodland, recreation ground (with two football pitches), a sports pavilion as well as grazing land let out via an annual grass-keep tenancy.

Rangeworthy Parish Council is seeking to appoint a proactive Parish Clerk to manage the internal administration of Parish Council business and ensure the smooth running of council matters.

The ideal candidate will have good communication, organisational, literacy and numeracy skills and a knowledge of IT.  Previous experience of local government and or committee skills would be desirable, however not essential.

This is a home working position with the requirement to attend monthly in-person meetings which are normally held on the first Tuesday of each month (and other meetings as required).  A mobile phone and IT equipment will be provided, along with all training necessary for the role.  A tax free allowance of £26 per month is paid to cover the cost of home working expenses, including the provision of internet.

The successful applicant will hold the CiLCA qualification, or be prepared to obtain it by May 2027.
